It may not seem like it, but the 2018 HEDIS season is around the corner.
I know that is not what many HEDIS leaders want to hear, after all it seems like the June 15th deadline that officially completed the 2017 season feels like it was just last week. Hopefully you were able to have a celebration of some sort after the many long hard months of HEDIS Data Validation, Chart Abstraction and then Over-Reading.
The NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance) has a published timeline for H.E.D.I.S. (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) benchmarks, and it is important to note that the new season does not officially begin until January of next year. However, if you are a Health Plan Director of Quality Improvement, or if you are a HEDIS Program Manager from a 3rd party vendor, you have probably already started preparing for the next HEDIS cycle.
Well the team here at CareNational is here to help, and this year we are kicking it off with a Live Streaming Broadcast!
On Friday, September 15th we will be streaming live from our Phoenix area headquarters for 30 minutes, including a live Question and Answer session. The session will begin at 12:30pm Eastern (11:30am Central, 10:30am Mountain, and 9:30am Pacific).
The live broadcast with feature a few of our in-house experts on vendor contracting and the challenges of meeting staffing requirements. In addition, we are excited to announce that we will be joined by an outside HEDIS expert to discuss what has changed from 2017 to 2018 and how to prepare yourself and your team for a successful season.
Our outside expert, Kim Williams, is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and she has over 30 years of healthcare experience ranging from Practice Administration, HEDIS, Pay for Performance (P4P), Project Management (including building strong HEDIS teams and managing all aspects of HEDIS Projects), and private consulting.
We will cover a variety of topics that will be important to both leadership professionals, and experienced HEDIS nurses, coders, and support associates at the staff level. This will culminate in a live Q&A session where we hope to hear from all of you!
I should note that the #1 question we receive in regards to HEDIS is “How do you get HEDIS work if you don’t have HEDIS experience?” This is understandably a compelling question, and one we did our best to address in this blog post. Unfortunately, while our live stream might include a few good pointers for first-timers, our content is aimed at a more experienced audience. If you have lead or supported at least one HEDIS assignment in the past five years, this is the session for you!
We’ll be doing a Q&A session during the broadcast, so please submit your question in advance HERE.
You can also submit your questions live with #HEDIStv on Twitter and Facebook.
